COMMUNITY
The heart of The Daily is feeding community life. The collective of people behind The Daily are passionate about seeing people connect with each other, develop relationships and ‘do good’ in our community . We believe the best personal development is done everyday, by real people, with real problems. This is true no matter where you are on your journey. We want to be part of people’s journey in life. We could just develop a cafe and make money, but where would be the fun in that? We want more, we want to help the community to develop and grow. Te Puke is great – the best little town around – but collectively we can make it even better.
COFFEE
Turning Coffee into Water. We are very excited to be partnering with Excelso. A coffee distributor with a similar heart to ours in terms of doing great things in our community. They do an organic and Fair Trade coffee blend called good.coffee through the Good Trust. This coffee not only tastes amazing, but is a channel to building wells and providing fresh water for communities in Cambodia.
How you may ask? The good trust is a 100% charity. This means that 100% of all profit/ money donated goes to the project that it is supporting. It works out like this. You buy ONE coffee from us, and by doing so you provide fresh water for one person for a whole week in Cambodia. How cool is that!? Your daily treat can make a difference in someone’s life for a whole week. Imagine how much Good we can do together!
FOOD
We are using a European concept at The Daily. Instead of having 30 different menu items we will have much less, and 3 fabulous fresh meals daily to choose from, good wholesome food, reasonably priced and changing according to the seasons. Our focus will be on great service and the best food. With an ever changing menu you can try different things every time you come in, or you can choose from a select range of fresh salads, freshly made juices, something sweet or even a freshly made pie (we have to have one of these, we are in NZ). We value our environment and therefore focus on local produce and minimum waste. We also cater for your special day or occasion. Give us a call to design a menu of your choice.
THE SEARCH PARTY CHARITABLE TRUST
The Daily is owned by The Search Party Charitable Trust, a registered charity (CC52017). This means we are not here for our own gain. Our focus is completely on the Te Puke community. All profits from the café and catering goes back to the local community.
Our strong focus is on breaking the poverty cycle and making our community even better than it is now. We are currently developing the café building at 3 Commerce Lane and will open soon. In the meantime we are happy to provide you with catering services big or small. Contact Rebecka today to hear more about our vision and how we can cater for your specific needs. We are looking forward to seeing and serving you at The Daily. We will also have a lot of space. We will have a large café area, a large outdoor area and a separate meeting room for businesses to hire. This room will be available for other local charities to use free of charge. Our focus is on serving Te Puke and promoting goodness to grow here.
Marty Robinson
Chairman
Marty Robinson is our Chairman and visionary. It all started around a night of Pizza at Marty and Chrissi’s house where Marty announced that he had a dream, to see a Cafe in the Te Puke community making a positive difference and effecting lives for good, as this is the community that his family is rooted in and his children are to grow up in.
Chrissi Robinson
Ipsum
Born and bred Te Puke hardcore, married to Marty with 3 full on kids, loves helping people, is a dab hand at organisational health, conflict resolution and making sure things are done proper. Chrissi has a huge capacity, we don’t know how she does it.
Andrew Reid
Ipsum
Dad to three kids and married to Jolene, Andrew has an amazing repertoire of dad jokes. Trained as a sparky but now is a ‘planalyst’ (ask him – it’s complicated). Andrew is generous to a fault, makes a fine Pizza and is fully immersed in Lean Thinking and sawdust.
Richard Crawford
Ipsum
Local volunteer fireman, builder, and serial community helper. Richard and his wife Julie have lived in and around Te Puke since ages ago. Richard loves connecting with people and a smile is never far from wherever Richard is.
Rebecka Billington
Manager
‘Bex’ is our amazing cafe manager extraordinaire. You will always come away blessed and encouraged when Bex is around. With experience in interior designer, this mum to two is our very own ‘swedish chef ’. Bex is focused on providing a world class experience at The Daily.SUPPORT THE DAILY
If you believe in what we are doing and would like to support us, perhaps even partner with us, we would greatly appreciate any kind of donation. If we have enough people “give a little” each week we can give more back to the community and allow for more relationships to develop and seeing more programs and projects launched. You can make a donation by either making a deposit directly into our bank account below or by clicking the donate button to make a donation to our Givealittle campaign! All donations are tax-deductible. Thank you for spreading the word.
